Credit Control Manager

Job Purpose

The Credit Controller is accountable for delivering targeted performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Effective credit vetting, evaluation and championing the collection process of the company, giving due attention to credit worthiness of potential customers and continuously assessing the credit worthiness of existing customers and driving action derived from these assessments in order to optimise the mix of company sales and bad debt losses.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Credit Management and overall DSO
   1. Manage the Credit Control Function and aim to meet monthly, quarterly and annual target
   2. Enforce the current credit policy with emphasis on query log, credit limits, authority matrix etc
   3. Oversee the resolution of queries relating to Key Commercial, Government and Residential Customers
   4. Monitor overdue debts and take action to reduce ageing
   5. Assess customer accounts with overdue balances with recommendation for proposed collection plan, suspension and/or terminations
   6. Manage the dunning process to ensure all actions are completed.
   7. Annual review and propose update of the dunning cycle in line with the business operations
2. Key point person on AR Company matters amp; liaison person with department heads on AR matters that potentially affect services, liaison with TP collectors and legal.
3. Secure Business Agreements (contracts) and Vetting Process
   1. Review credit limits with the aim to mitigate overdue debt
   2. Ensure contracts are valid and invoicing is performed in accordance with agreements
   3. Perform API analysis on customer contracts
   4. Ensure the Tamp;Cs are understood and enforced.
4. Team development and leadership
   1. Manage performance of the team through effective performance and development reviews
   2. To identify colleague training and development needs
5. Risk Management amp; exposure
   1. Set credit limits for new customers with approval of Financial Controller and General Manager
   2. Responsible for the integrity of the data entered and reported in the two Finance systems NAVISION and ON Guard.
   3. Identify gaps to current process
   4. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and set Key Financial Controls
6. KPI delivery, analysis and reporting
   1. Manage the successful delivery of set DSO and Cash targets of the business
   2. Query Log analysis - Number of queries, value of queries outstanding, delays in closure of queries, escalation process
   3. Analysis of job status for revenue reporting
   4. Analysis of credit notes processed and outstanding
   5. Analysis of bad debt provision and profit impact

• High-level commercial skills with strong ability to negotiate and build customer relationships
• Ability to direct the work of others, lead and motivate direct reports and support the professional development of team members
• Presentation skills and experience with communicating results to senior executives

Qualifications and Experience required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics or a related field.
• At least two (2) years’ experience in a Credit Control Management role
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in end-to-end credit control and accounts receivable processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Certification in Credit Management will be an asset
• Certificate in Negotiations will be an asset
