Role Overview
Title and community marketing are the core part of Packt’s publishing system and ensure that each publication is given the awareness and publicity it needs to become a breakout title. Reporting to the Associate Group Product Manager, the Senior Product Marketing Specialist is responsible for coordinating between the Author, Operational, and Commercial teams to ensure that our Books are effectively marketed to their target audiences. This will involve ensuring that titles are announced well at least 3 months before publication on core channels and that the author is supported in conducting marketing activities. The Senior Product Marketing Specialist is also a community-centric and community-facing role responsible for outreach and community partnership development to ensure maximum exposure to the right audience for all Packt titles.
What is product marketing?
Product marketing is the process of bringing a product to market. This includes deciding the product's positioning and messaging, launching the product, and ensuring customers understand it and adopt it. Product marketing aims to drive the demand and usage of the product.
Product marketing’s purpose is to drive product adoption by shaping market perception through strategic marketing activities that meet business goals.
Product Marketer plays a role of a partner to a product manager, in achieving product/market adequacy and placing the product in the market in time.
Packt is a product-based organisation and it’s mission is to help the world put software to work in new ways, through the delivery of effective learning and information services to IT professionals.
The Product Marketing team at Packt is responsible for driving title awareness and visibility through title reviews, Influencer Marketing, Editorial reviews, book forewords, conference sponsorships and community partnerships. These relationships enable visibility and awareness of our titles and brand in the community.
Each Product Marketing specialist is expected to generate their own reviewer leads and convert them to reviews posted on Amazon within agreed timeframes.
Author Marketing support is also a key responsibility of the Product Marketing Specialist, requiring collaboration of authors with their marketing efforts.
