Where do you come into the picture?

NIUM is looking for a driven individual to join our Finance team to as a Group controller to support Nium’s hyper-growth globally.

This is a crucial position in providing finance leadership in managing our operations and expansion in 11 licensed markets. The incumbent will ensure protection to legal entity, demonstrate knowledge and expertise in driving overall responsibility across Controllership, Accounting and Reporting, Bank Settlements, Balance Sheet reviews and recommendation to management on any control related matters. This position will be reporting directly into the Chief Financial Officer.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and can work through chaos and ambiguity and can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The candidate should have strong technical accounting and hands-on experience to successfully analyze the organization’s critical business requirements and develop innovative solutions to improve performance and reporting of financial results.

Requirements

What would a day in your life @ Nium look like?

  • The role is crucial role in providing finance leadership in managing our operations and expansion in 11 licensed markets
  • Lead and manage the controllership, Financial Statements, Payables and Receivables, Pamp;L, Balance Sheet
  • Manage internal financial controls, entity level controls, Balance sheet controls and reconciliations
  • Provide short and long-term financial outlook (budgets and forecasts) and analysis of actuals against plans.
  • Set-up dashboards to monitor financial performance, undertake benchmarking studies to measure performance against industry, implement market best practices.
  • Run cost optimization programs, sustain cost-avoidance, intensify financial awareness in the organization and cost-control accountability for business
  • Controls over Vendor payments, vendor negotiations, Employee reimbursements, payments turn-around SLAs
  • Manage relationships with Auditors and adhere to statutory compliances
  • Build control and systems that enable high growth environment
  • Participate in Balance Sheet reviews, be in-charge of all the Pamp;L elements reported and ensure the accuracy of it on regular interval. Provide reports/recommendation to management on any control issues.
  • Consolidation of group accounts and overseeing audits for all business units and entities
  • Take leadership of due diligence, compliance, documentation and fillings.
  • Identifying and preparing the Company for changes arising out of any changes in Law or Accounting Practices, IGAAP, ERP system and IFRS guidelines
  • Ensure protection to legal entity through relevant legal advisory, risk mitigation provisions, and compliance to have effective governance mechanisms in place.
  • Effective relationships with stakeholders and business partners to be an integral aspect across India and international locations.
  • Provide leadership to a young team, drive performance and embed culture.

What experiences and expertise would you need to play this role?

  • Chartered Accountant or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience of accounting and controlling experience
  • Exposure to handling international finance roles is required
  • Hands on experience in IFRS and US GAAP will be an advantage
  • Business orientation with experience in the payments industry will be a plus
  • Dynamic leader who can leverage his/her business acumen to shape and drive all controlling and reporting processes. Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to identify and solve a wide range of business problems.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, challenging and changing environment with hands-on involvement and good judgement.
  • High intellectual capacity with strong analytical thinking skills
