Data amp; Database Engineering deals with end-to-end aspects of data engineering and Databases used by
various product teams. The team is responsible for selection and deployment of the most optimal
technical solutions in the data management life cycle.
Here are the key activities that the team will be handling.
Configuring amp; managing new and existing database systems/services for variousproducts/platforms
Automate routine database related activities/operations and refining the existingautomation jobs to improve the efficiency of the data.
Creation of new and modifying schemas as per the company requirements. Ensure to avoid any outage by closely monitoring the database services and thennotify the required teams proactively.
Helping other teams by troubleshooting prod/non-prod environments for any issues. Regular periodic maintenance to avoid any unplanned outages for database services. Regular monitoring of back-up amp; archival for all of the database services, thisincludes testing of the restoration process and recovery management (RPO amp; RTO)
Provide technical assistance in case the dependent engineering teams are stuck. Minimising the risks by knowing potential weaknesses of the database software byoptimising accordingly.
Multiple types of reports as per the need of the internal or external customers.What will you be doing?
Installation and configuration of databases Write new database programs, such as SQL queries, and maintain existing programsto ensure data traffic is enhanced and be able to manage the data stored in the
application / backend / server.
Optimizing and perf tuning of database systems. Debugging/refining automation scripts to debug existing database scripts. Automation of redundant/regular needs and process. New database design based on company requirement / customer requirement. Schema changes in the data tables. Monitoring the database's performance, implementing changes, and applying newpatches / versions as required.
Data replication across different resources to ensure data redundancy. Troubleshoot database code, check for potential problems that affect databasefunctionality and related database programs.
Review the log files for root cause analysis. Regular periodic database maintenance. Manage, monitor performance, capacity and security of database systems. Test database systems and perform bug fixes. Security hardening for databases. Perform data back-up and archival on a regular basis. Data extraction, transformation and loading on a regular basis. Resolve technical issues / queries related to performance, capacity, data storage,data access.
User access management. Support within the teams on call. Minimising the risks by knowing potential weaknesses of the database software. Retrieval of data on need basis. Reports generation.Expected skill-set and competencies
Over all 2 to 4 years of production experience in managing Mysql/Maria servicesunder any of the public/private cloud.
1 to 2 years of production experience with MongoDB is required. Having basic expertise with cloud providers like AWS,GCP is an added advantage forMongo/Mysql/Maria.
Should have created, maintained and managed multiple databases. Is capable of monitoring, maintaining database services and troubleshootingproduction issues.
Should have an expertise with Installation, configuration and upgradation and patchmanagement for MySQL / Maria, Mongo.
Should have expertise in maintaining data integrity and security Proficiency with Replication / Cluster for HA set-up. Proven experience with back-up and restoration of databases. Strong knowledge or prove expertise on archiving and shrinking databases data. Added advantage for automations using any one scripting language(Bash,Perl,Python etc..,).
Should have a good working knowledge of linux(Centos, Redhat, Ubuntu, AmazonLinux etc..,).
Flexible to work on rotational shifts amp; handling of on-call on rotation basis
