Where do you come into the picture?

For Nium, the Payments Platform is the core that enables Nium to be a leading Fintech organization in cross border payments. It integrates with a network of over 50 different banks amp; payment service providers to offer payouts in more than 100 currencies amp; 150 countries and payins in over 25 currencies amp; 20 countries.

Managing the payment platform as a product needs a product manager to solve problems along 2 separate amp; intertwined areas

  • Network Growing and optimising coverage in terms of geography, currencies, payment methods, payment types, customer segment-specific needs
  • Technology creating amp; optimising technology platforms to deliver fast, cheap amp; real time payments experience

We are looking at a product leader who would be able to own the Payments Network, either Payouts or Payins or both, depending on the skills, maturity and past experience.

What would a day in your life @ Nium look like?

The responsibilities of the person would include -

Be an expert

  • Liaise regularly amp; communicate to leadership team, sales amp; account management teams to gather market feedback and share regular updates
  • Be on top of market trends across different markets amp; payment types e.g. wallets, accounts, cash, cards
  • Bring insights into payments experiences amp; flows that the company should build for different customer segments amp; use cases

Own the Network

  • Own the Payment Network as a product to deliver coverage, speed amp; efficiency goals
  • Create an expansion or optimization roadmap based on inputs about new markets, new customer segments, new use cases and scalability problems
  • Work with Partnership development teams to translate the roadmap into a pipeline of bank amp; payment partners
  • Work with global banks amp; payment partners to finalize contours of the partnerships

Own the technology

  • Create technical amp; functional requirements amp; get these implemented through an Agile tech team as well non-technical stakeholders
  • Develop a technology amp; data-driven approach to measuring amp; delivering efficiency goals across STP rates, error handling amp; returns

Working in a fast-growing start-up and managing the core product payments network needs a bit of mix of these skills

  • Have Superlative people skills - This would be a global role and would require the person to work across geographies, time zones, cultures and competencies as well as internal teams who might not be very familiar with global payments amp; its intricacies
  • Be willing to get your hands dirty from writing Jira stories, drawing swim lane diagrams to running sprint meetings, you will do it all
  • While being articulate you would be required to articulate amp; justify your vision amp; strategy behind you roadmap to domain experts amp; leaders again amp; again in a crowded amp; evolving payment stage
  • Deep knowledge of payments with the range of payment types, clearing amp; settlements, currencies, regulations, automation challenges that you will deal with it, knowledge amp; understanding is what will be key to success
  • Comfort with technology dealing with engineers amp; architects to design new flows, adapt systems to new market innovations while maintaining integrity amp; scalability of the platform is vital

Requirements

  • More than 5 years experience in payments product management
  • Worked with a global payments company
  • Worked with banking amp; payments partners
  • An engineering degree (a management degree is desirable)
  • Should be comfortable with data, analytics and decision making based on data
  • Interpersonal skills you will work across geographies, cultures, domains amp; functions, so you should have excellent communication amp; relationship building skills
