About the role
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Engineering Lead based out of our Delhi office. This person’s team owns and drives the development across all of The Luxury Closet’s product suites (backend, frontend, iOS), while occasionally dabbling in API’s and underlying data models.
CRITICAL: The successful candidate must be both a management decision maker as well as a daily task manager with fellow software engineers. He/she must have solid startup experience and currently manage a team of at least 10 people.
Additionally, he/she needs to have at least 9 years’ experience as either Software Engineer or Architect. At least 6 of these years should be at director level.
This position is operational and highly dynamic with responsibilities changing depending on the business needs. The Director of Engineering is a functional leader of tech/product road-map and is responsible for managing a productive engineering team as well as recruitment and development of the team.

- Coordinate and lead projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
- Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
- Direct, review and approve product design and changes
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department
- Hire and manage a team that delivers excellence
Requirements
- Experience in both eCommerce and startup is critical
- Expertise in PHP is a must
- BS/MS in Computer Science or other related degree, Master degree is preferable
- Deep, hands-on programming and technical design skills with demonstrated willingness and capability to learn new technologies quickly
- Extensive software development management experience in delivering B2C products/services/content
- Demonstrated ability to design, build and deliver complex, successful web services and/or customer experiences efficiently and with quality
- Experience developing high-volume internationalized web and app experiences
- Proven ability to make smart feature versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assertions of business value
- Ability to clearly communicate high level strategy and technical details effectively across disciplines, locations and organizations, including to senior leadership
- Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Burning desire to build great experiences for customers
- History of effectively working with and growing geo-distributed partner teams
