Job Description
We are a start-up software business within an innovative consultancy specializing in Software Quality Management. We are hiring a capable, ambitious, creative User Experience Designer to join the team responsible for development of our Test Automation Software. We actively develop our own software and web products that sell to major UK and international organisations and have ambition to grow strongly within an expanding market.
You will combine artistic graphic design with a deep understanding of dynamic user interactions. You will follow trends and innovations in contemporary web and native products and be motivated to take charge of the user experience delivery for a whole product ecosystem.
Requirements
Scope of the Role
Development team member delivering an enterprise-grade packaged software application.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the product features, purposes and use cases
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers
- Illustrate conceptual design ideas with sketches, mocks, wireframes, storyboards and state diagrams, leading to final honed designs
- Develop appropriate navigation, dynamic interactions and task flows to suit use cases
- Establish style standards for the product and related materials and design a cohesive overall UI using a consistent set of controls and styles
- Create and implement attractive, contemporary graphic design, including colour sets, fonts, sizing and proportion, layout, panel and window presentations, white space, icons, graphics etc.
- Ensure UIs are responsive to window size and orientation
- Create illustrations and explanatory diagrams for documentation and external presentations
- Work on all platforms, including web sites, desktop applications, and lifecycle emails
- Collaborate with other designers and developers to ensure quality software is delivered with minimum lead times using agile methodology
- Respond to business and customer needs and changing priorities
Technical/Functional Requirements
Proven experience as a UX designer on software products or websites
Able to express and debate complex ideas clearly in written and spoken English
Able to contribute reasoned, logical, practical and creative ideas to help develop the best possible software products.
Have available a portfolio or design projects that you have delivered or contributed to
Knowledge of HTML/CSS and of WPF/XAML is strongly preferred
Skilled in the use of design and graphic production software
Other beneficial relevant experience
Experience working in a team using agile methodologies, CI and CD.
