The OpportunityThe Accountant will be an important member of the ApplyBoard Corporate finance team and the ApplyBoard India business team. He/she will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance to support ApplyBoard’s India businesses, and will report to the Director of Finance in the Canada HQ office, with a dual reporting line to the ApplyBoard India Country Manager. He/she will also be expected to work directly with other senior leaders and external service providers on a regular basis.
This position contributes to ApplyBoard’s success by ensuring efficient accounting operations to support the India business. The Analyst will support all aspects of accounting and payroll activities in India. This includes assisting in the development of accounting processes to support the growing business operations.
This demanding role requires a candidate who can quickly become familiar with the ApplyBoard business model, and the accounting implications of the business. The successful candidate will be able to apply this knowledge to analyze specific issues. This position offers excellent personal and career development opportunities to the right candidate.Responsibilities:
  • Collect and sort invoices and checks and receipts
  • Process payment of vendors invoices and employees’ reimbursements
  • Support supervisory and executive staff by performing any assigned accounting and clerical tasks
  • Assist senior accounting personnel and outsourced accounting firm with any tasks conducted within the accounting department, or any tasks that require accounting personnel to take part
  • Provide monthly input data to payroll service providers to process payroll and coordinate with payroll service provides employees and accounting firm on all aspects of payroll
  • Key in or type up any documents or items that the accounting department is responsible for, including checks and invoices, as well as vouchers, accounting statements, and other reports and records
  • Manage all banking transactions
  • Coordinate with internal and external team to ensure regulatory compliancesReconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintain historical records
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Other projects related to accounting and finance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commerce graduate with a strong academic record; accounting, finance or economics background required
  • Semi qualified chartered accountant preferredSuperb attention to detail resulting in 0-defect analysis
  • Strong abstract thinking amp; problem-solving skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required (Excel including Pivot Tables, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word); experience with Netsuite, Hyperion and Business Objects (or other database related software) a plus
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required, other languages are a plus but not required
  • 4-8 years of prior work experience (e.g. as accountant, office manager or accounts payable in a dynamic industry)
  • Proactive and goal-oriented personality, good at juggling multiple tasks
  • Strong self-management, able to work independentlySound business sense
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to react to changing priorities
  • Good people and communication skills, verbal amp; written
