Part of this mission is achieved through optimising and selling our books on key channels, including Amazon. We optimise our books’ metadata for content and keywords to give them the best chance of success on channels.

Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Product Information (PI) Copywriter to join our team. The right candidate will be a detail-oriented copywriter/copyeditor with the ability to transform complex technical information into compelling yet balanced product information for pre-announcement and pre-publication titles. You’ll be able to work on the descriptions of several titles concurrently, optimizing them for keywords and copy, and work to tight deadlines with specific output requirements. Your attention to detail will be second to none with a level of English equivalent to that of a native speaker. You’ll be able to consult with Publishing teams when more information is required and ask relevant queries to ensure the description is written appropriately for the target audience. You’ll also work on A+ content, from the briefing and design stage through to publication, and use A/B testing where relevant to understand what type of content is most effective. You’ll also be able to identify back catalogue titles with suboptimal PI and coordinate the rewrite and reupload of these descriptions working alongside the Publishing and Distribution teams.

Responsibilities

Product Information Copywriting:

• Using the schedule, base level product information, keyword sand robust guidelines supplied to you, fully immerse yourself in each title to write the Product Information that is required to enable Packt to sell the title in all channels prior to publication.
• Ask appropriate questions of the Publishing Product Managers and Publishing teams to ensure that you fully understand the title and the target audience before you write.
• Ensure that you conduct rigorous editing and proofreading of your Product Information, and that of your team members when requested.
• Take on board the feedback you receive on the title PI from Publishing Product Managers and Publishing teams and make appropriate changes to the copy to accommodate these changes.
• As and when necessary (determined by your schedule) conduct rewrites of currently published titles to optimise the Product Information in an attempt to drive better discoverability and revenue.

Product Information Copy Optimisation Research

• Conduct regular desktop research to identify potential enhancements and optimisations to Product Information that are new or haven’t been considered by Packt
• Submit these to your line manager for consideration for testing and implementation if successful.

Channel, India, and Partner Copywriting Support

• Work collaboratively with Publishing Marketing, Amazon Marketing, Content and Product teams to create copy to support channel marketing campaigns and collateral, product collateral and author engagement initiatives.
• Work on A+ content alongside the Publishing teams to further improve sales of key titles
• Work to the briefs and timescales provided to you in your schedule to ensure that deadlines are met.
• Provide all amends requested in a timely manner.
