Job Description

Role Overview

The Associate Group Product Manager owns the strategic, commercial and operational activities within their portfolio. They should actively strive to position Packt as the premier provider of developer learning and oversee the management of market research, operations , acquisition, production and publishing within their category area.

You will be accountable for the strength of your category pipeline, unit sales and overall quality of titles produced. As Associate Group Product Manager you will maintain the day to day control of priorities, including sign-off on commissioning ideas (which will be driven by market demands and developer requirements), author acceptance, production edits, and ultimately book publishing.

You will be highly accomplished at managing key deliverables and resources of a multi skilled team, situated globally. You will prepare and implement strategic and operational plans and monitor progress to ensure the team attains its mission and objectives as smoothly and successfully as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate commissioning, acquisition and content development teams to deliver timely, comprehensive, high quality, and engaging book products.
  • Gatekeeping and auditing of book proposals and author outlines
  • Prioritizing and owning the pipeline of titles to maximize the performance of their portfolio
  • Consulting in editorial boards throughout the content development process
  • Responsible for the post-production sign-off of all titles within their category
  • Responsible for ensuring effective and robust quality control measures are in place
  • Collaborate closely with Managers, and other key stakeholders to ensure strong communication and the achievement of overall company goals.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and management of all titles within their category post-publication
  • Build a strong team ethos based around performance and responsibility
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for direct reports and your wider team to ensure they remain aligned and focused with commercial priorities and the company’s visions and values

Contracting Pipeline - 7 Contracts/month
Market Fit of Products - Avg. 60 VPT (Value per title)
Content Quality - Average star rating of 4* as base and 4.5* as target on published products on Amazon
Pen Handover - 1 title/month
Publishing Output - Base: 4 Published Books/month amp; Target: 5 Published Books/month
