Overview of the Role
The Video Editor is a crucial member of our team, with the responsibility of transforming raw video content into polished pieces of content that resonate with our audience. This role requires an individual who can work independently, drive projects from concept to completion, take full ownership of the quality of their work, and create processes that uphold our brand's values and expectations.
Key responsibilitiesContent editing and management:
- Collaborate with Instructional Designers to align video production with course curriculum.
- Evaluate sample videos shared by authors for quality, providing feedback as necessary.
- Efficiently manage multiple video projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery.
- Develop and maintain brand-specific video templates.
- Edit videos to include dialogue, captions, subtitles, and sound effects, maintaining proper sequencing and high-quality production values.
- Maintain and ensure quality control standards for all video content, taking full responsibility for the final editing quality.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in video editing and production, incorporating innovative ideas and methodologies into the work process.
- Process audio components, for example voiceovers, unnecessary pauses etc., to enhance quality, making necessary corrections and adding appropriate audio effects and music.
- Consistently maintain the brand's visual identity across all videos.
- Ensure all content is edited, finalized, and ready for publication within set deadlines.
- Prioritize customer experience, ensuring the quality of published courses meets or exceeds our standards.
Quality assurance and innovation:
- Maintain and ensure quality control standards for all video content, taking full responsibility for the final editing quality.

Requirements
Required qualifications and experience
- A degree from an academy offering courses in video editing, photography, or a related field. A bachelor's degree in digital technologies or computers is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the ed tech or a similar industry in the video editing domain.
- Experience in digital editing systems and comprehensive knowledge of digital audio-visual technology.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Audacity, Handbrake or similar video and audio editing software.
- Prior experience in video editing and animation projects for clients.
Required skills and competencies
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Captivate, and Audacity. Familiarity with other audio editing and video editing software is beneficial.
- Strong background in video production and post-production techniques.
- Ability to identify missing elements in content flow, visual representation, and overall learning experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Knowledge of subtitling and transcription is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining consistency to create high-quality videos.
- A strong sense of ownership, with the willingness to take initiative and drive improvements in our processes
